My First Pig Roast

I attended my first pig roast today and I must say it was delicious! It was held at "Grumpy's" house in Myrtle Station. He put the wee beast on at 9 AM and we were ready to eat at 6:30 PM. Jim, Patrick and I attended however Rhea chose to go to a friend's for a sleep over. Apparently she thought if she saw a full pig roasting over an open flame she would just up and become a vegetarian. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I wasn't sure myself how I would feel seeing it. Luckily we didn't arrive until about 4:30 PM so I was able to separate the living beast from the meat cooking. We are just such carnivores. Actually we are omnivores but who is being picky? Me I guess. Inside the pig was a roast beef which I thought was interesting. Patrick and Jim had a piece and said it was good.

The Roast Pig.
And this here is "Grumpy" Finally getting some food into himself while still organizing the whole group of us.

I got reunited with an old knitting buddy of mine which was a bonus! "Grumpy's" daughter. I met her at knitting class and felt like I had known her all along. We lost touch for about 10 years while I raised children and she became a lawyer. I thought about her often through the years and I was surprised to find out that she had thought of me too. Now that she has finished her schooling and I have almost finished raising my kiddos we plan on staying in touch!! Right, K.?
A final shot for me... the most handsome boy at the pig roast.

I was reading the Toronto Star today and saw an article about a Canadian Artist named Nancy Nisbet who is travelling around the USA with a 12 metre container containing her worldly possessions. She calls the trip her Exchange Project and is doing it as a "performance of resistance" about the Free Trade Agreement. She has a web site..... http://exchangeproject.ca/index.php that keeps you up to date on her tour. An interesting concept.

I'm not too keen on seeing the pig roasting either but apparently the rest of my family can't get enough of it, they are always doing pig roasts. It looks like Grumpy did a grand job!

The last pic is the best... he's a handsome boy.

Ooh, yum. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I've done a post on the cabled scarf. If you want to email me, I could copy out the pattern.
