The Meaning of Existence

by:Les Murray (b. 1938)

Everything except language

knows the meaning of existence.

Trees, planets, rivers,time

know nothing else. They express it

moment by moment as the universe.

Even this fool of a body

lives it in part, and would

have full dignity within it

but for the ignorant freedom

of my talking mind.

Painting: The Ignorant Fairy by Rene Magritte

Added later:
Moments after finishing this post I found out that my cousin Jane passed away after many many years of living with MS.
She was 46.
She is pain free now.
