Havin' a Heat Wave!

Since I learned how to sew at my mother's knee and since I have forgone sewing for knitting for many years I am joining the sew along over at sew i knit.

The item to be made is a top. I have chosen a simple top (it says easy on the pattern) and the fabric . The fabric is a lovely embroidered summer weight cotton blend. Should I get it done on time I will have another cool top to wear this summer.

I will not be putting aside the knitting. No, that I could probably never do. I still have quite a few projects to get started on. I also have several projects still on the go too (surprise, surprise).

Today has been the 2nd day of the southern Ontario heat wave. It was about 30 degrees C today. In the Greater Toronto Area we also have humidexes because of being on Lake Ontario. With the humidex yesterday it was equal to about 45 degrees C. It is so completely oppressive. It is hard to breathe with the heat and humidity but then there is also the pollution index that sky rockets in the city areas so we also get air quality warnings. It was because of the air quality warnings that I finally broke down and agreed to have central air in our house. I didn't put it on last night but you can bet it is on now. Poor Kessie yesterday! She was experiencing her very first heat wave and I don't think she liked it at all. She is much happier with the AC on. Well, the whole family is happier with it on. We all may actually sleep through the whole night tonight!

I am going to have some ice cream now!!

Gosh, that tank is going to look so beautiful, can't wait to see it when it's all done! I admire you for being able to sew, my Mom tried to teach me for years when I was a kid, but I've probably been too stupid - or just not interested back then, who knows! I regret that by now!
And may I tell you that I'm freakin' jealous for your heatwave? Pulling the a/c on? Yeah, right, I pulled the heating on yesterday - it's been snowing (!) in higher parts of the Tyrol yesterday, and no end of this horror in sight. It's 6 degrees Celsius over here! May I come over and sit on your porch in the sun??? :)

The tank is going to be so cute! I wish I knew how to sew.
So, what is 30 degrees C in degrees F?
It's been around 92-95 plus humidity here lately. HOT!

Oooo... I love that pattern!

I know what you mean by everyone being happier with the a/c... our heatwave lasts from March to December! I love my central air.

30oC is about 86oF w3ith a humidex of 45 it is equivilant to 113o F. So I guess we're not quite as hot as you are but we live in the cold for so long it feels so overwhelmingly ho!!
