The Front Porch Falleth Apart

We have been in our house for almost 20 years. (I am shaking my head in disbelief!) That makes our house about 30 years old now.
Already replaced over the years have been the windows, the roof and the siding.
Now it is time for the front porch. It is crumbling. The cement base upon which the walls sit seems to be ok but the bricks are succumbing to the damage of water along with the freeze /thaw issues of living in a northern climate.
There are parts of the wall that we attempt not to touch but as you can see we are not always successful. As seen in the photo above the corner is majorly eroding.

So...these are our before pictures.
Yes indeedy.
This is the summer of the porch replacement.
Last weekend friend Jennifer came and consulted on what type of porch would look best on our tall slender house. She is in the process of sketching up the details and we get to see them tomorrow!
It will be a wooden porch. It will have place to put a couple of chairs so we can sit and watch the neighbourhood go by.
I promise we will leave the binoculars inside!
